Featuring: Rose Sajuan

When a routine mammogram revealed breast cancer, Rose Sajuan, a loving grandmother deeply entrenched in her Hispanic faith community, was inspired by her diagnosis not to be “Bitter” but to be “Better” by lowering the wall of silence among women, especially Latinas, with a message of “spiritual strength” in the midst of feeling like “her world was about to cave in!”

Show Notes:

Twenty-one year breast cancer survivor Rose Sajuan shares with the hosts how her cancer journey began after a routine mammogram revealed a mass. A wife, mother, and grandmother, Rose admits her life flashed before her: “I felt like my world was going to cave in ’cause I had three grandchildren, and I wanted to be around to leave a lot of memories for them.”

The turning point in Rose’s journey came when she decided to become an ambassador for Cancer Fighters, an advocacy and support group for cancer patients. “It seems like God puts me in the right places at the right time,” she says. Now, she speaks about cancer awareness with an emphasis on the Hispanic community, addressing fears and cultural barriers concerning health and wellness.
