Featuring: Dr. Nathan Neufeld
Published: July 14, 2018
The hosts of Health, Hope & Inspiration talk with Dr. Nathan Neufeld, National Chief of Pain Management at CTCA Atlanta, Georgia, about the importance of building an integrative, specialized pain management plan for cancer patients.
Show Notes:
Dr. Nathan Neufeld has spent his career trying to solve the problem of pain. Formally trained at Johns Hopkins, Neufeld not only is at the forefront of developing breakthrough pain treatments for his patients, but he is also invested in them as people. Considering himself a “pastor-doctor”, Neufeld believes this unique platform is necessary when practicing medicine. “You have to think outside yourself,” he says. “And I’m definitely not perfect, and I need to rely on God to help me make good decisions.”
Inspired by his own mother’s battle with breast cancer, Neufeld was determined to make his career a vocation of helping oncology patients live life to the fullest, with their pain—whether physical, emotional or spiritual—as controlled as possible. “It’s amazing to me the amount of patients that tell me, ‘I didn’t believe that this level of pain freedom existed for me.’ And if we can knock out the pain, we restore hope, we restore a desire to live. It’s an amazing thing to be an instrument of God in that process.”
