Doing a good thing for a great reason.
Show Notes:
Three-time cancer patient Keith Guernsey rejoins Rev. Percy McCray to discuss his endorsement and direct involvement with the American Cancer Society’s sponsored Relay for Life program.
In this discussion, you will learn about a powerful way to help with the fight against cancer from this tireless advocate. Keith helps listeners to understand the focus of Relay for Life.
“Basically, it is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society,” he says. “And it’s simply a day of donations and sponsorships and a survivor relay. It’s a chance to get together with fellow survivors. It’s a chance for people to volunteer, to help, to donate; it’s an event for business leaders to sponsor the event and get involved and just to give back to help cure cancer.”
Keith shares his feelings about being involved with Relay for Life.
“It’s very, very, very moving,” he says. “Because of the pandemic we did a survivor drive-by and there were hundreds of people clapping and cheering. And as I get towards the end, I started to get choked up and I was able to drive past the track and turn towards home. And I just started weeping like crazy, it’s incredibly moving, and rewarding.”
Quotes:
