I have noticed in pop culture, the undeniable role, emotional impact, and widespread number of people who now have tattoos as a form of identification, expression, and public affirmation. This has never been truer than for those who are battling or have overcome cancer. I have supported thousands of cancer patients for close to three decades and I have witnessed the emotional impact of what having a tattoo can have on some people’s mental and emotional well-being.
But are there any inherent health risks associated with this pop-culture self-expression?
For many, tattoos simply do not fit their comfort levels of expression for one reason or another. But those who have or are getting inked should be aware of any possible health consequences related to tattooing.
