Having cancer and its effects is not fair, so I choose to support this community.
Show Notes:
From the moment I met Jonathan Stoner, Chaplain at City of Hope Duarte, it was clear I was sitting in the presence of a true servant leader who understands his life’s assignment to walk with cancer patients and their caregivers through the darkness as they attempt to answer these questions: Why me? Why now? Why ever?
There is no doubt that superb medical care is key to wellness and survival with cancer. But, along the way, many patients may lose strength, hope and the ability to navigate the tumultuous path of cancer treatment. That’s where Jonathan’s skill, ability and partnership becomes an asset for many.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he says. “I’m not running away from this. I’m not running away from you. I’m in your corner. We are going to fight together.”
Push play now and listen to one who helps shoulder the burden of many cancer patients on their road to physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Quotes:
- “There’s this desire [by cancer patients] to make meaning, and to make sense of what’s happening [to them].”
- “I’m gonna keep hoping and praying alongside you, your parents, and your sibling. We are going to keep trusting, for a good outcome regardless of how bleak these circumstances look.”
- “I’ve learned so much from my patients.”
