Show Notes:

I remember when being first diagnosed with cancer, I opened my medical records to read my diagnostic findings and immediately had to pull out a thesaurus to understand all the complicated language contained in that report.

Feeling overwhelmed and mentally exhausted, I felt lost during a crucial time in my cancer journey.

I thought to myself, how many people possibly check out psychologically when trying to absorb the language of cancer while feeling fearful, tired, or physically in discomfort?

Push play now and listen to this conversation as I will attempt to provide some basic definitions for commonly used, but not necessarily commonly understood, cancer diagnostic terms.

In the words of George Bernard Shaw: “The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”

Push play now and listen as I provide definitions to some of the most used cancer treatment language.

Quotes:

  • “Just because you heard it, doesn’t mean you understood it.”
  • “Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor to slow down or repeat themselves.”
